North Hardin, John Hardin Meet in First Federal Bowl

Students Learn by Producing the EventFirst Federal Bowl: John Hardin vs North Hardin

ELIZABETHTOWN, September 03, 2009 First Federal Savings Bank announced that the second annual First Federal Bowl will feature the North Hardin High School and John Hardin High School football teams squaring off at 7:30 PM on September 11th at North Hardin Stadium.

First Federal Savings Bank is the named sponsor of this Hardin County rivalry game and will make a donation to both schools athletic departments. This donation will help fund and support sports at the two schools. The winner of this annual game will receive the First Federal Bowl trophy for display for a full year until the next years contest.

As part of the annual event, the host school is given the opportunity to produce the event on behalf of First Federal and challenged to maximize game attendance. This years game is being produced by Dan Robbins Business classes at North Hardin High School.

The students created the logo for the event (pictured), created a newspaper ad, and wrote and recorded a radio commercial to promote the game.

The students were given presentations by First Federals marketing department, as well as by local media representatives from The News Enterprise/The Turret and WQXE/WULF. During these presentations, students were given an opportunity to interact with these media experts and to learn about how event, newspaper, and radio marketing is used by companies like First Federal.

The logo will also appear on a game t-shirt, produced by Play It Again Sports, which will be sold by the students to raise additional money for the respective schools programs.

The t-shirts will be made available for students to purchase at school the week of September 7th and at the game, the students radio commercial will run on WQXE that week, and their newspaper ad will appear in The News Enterprise on Thursday, September 10th.

The students will also be holding a "Punt, Pass & Kick" competition between students of each of the two schools at halftime of the game, with each participant winning a First Federal savings bond. Students can register at their school or at the gate on the night of the game, and participants will be randomly drawn from entries.

Advanced tickets to the game will be on sale all day Friday the 11th at North Hardin High School as well as at the gate on the night of the game.
